The Montreal Canadiens' decision to start Carey Price paid off as he essentially stole two-points for his team by making 37 saves on 39 shots and leading them to a 4-2 victory behind Alexei Kovalev's 3 assist night. Montreal was only able to muster 20 shots on goal, but Mikael Tellqvist was not up to the task as Montreal used a three goal third period to came back from a one goal deficit about 4 minutes into the third. Had Ilya Bryzgalov been in net, it might have been a significantly different story but regardless, Montreal's victory and Pittsburgh's loss moves the Canadiens to the top seed in the East.
